As many as nine deaths were reported due to road accidents in three districts of Bareilly division in the last 24 hours, police said on Tuesday.
The first accident was reported from Bareilly's Nawabganj area, where two bikes collided in a blind spot and both bikers along with their riders fell on the road. Later, they were run over by a speeding truck, resulting in the instant death of five people, including a minor.
One person was seriously injured in the accident. In the second incident, a 26-year-old man died, and his father sustained injuries after the speed they were driving collided with an oncoming truck at Amiliya village in Budaun under Kunwargaon police station limits on Tuesday afternoon.
A 17-year-old boy traveling on a tractor cart loaded with sugarcane died after the cart overturned while overtaking another vehicle in Pilibhit's Jahanabad area. Meanwhile, a couple was killed in Shahjahanpur area after their bike was hit by a speeding tanker while they were returning home from a wedding on Monday.
In another incident, a 75-year-old man was run over by a truck while crossing the road in Puranpur area of Pilibhit.
